The texts place a household's functions by the nature of each direction: the entrance toward the east, north or north-east; the kitchen in Agni's south-east (or the north-west); the master bedroom in the stable south-west; the puja space in the north-east; stored water in the north-east or north.

Each placement has a reason you can check: morning sun in the kitchen, the heaviest room in the heaviest corner, worship where the light first arrives, water where it stays cool and clean. A toilet is asked to stay out of the north-east, the cleanest zone.

A room outside its zone is not a curse on a house. VEDAUM's Vaastu page reads your rooms and gives three doors for anything that asks: change the design if it is still on paper, adjust the placement if it is built, and serve the zone's devata for what cannot change.

The tables on this page are drawn from the same data VEDAUM reads charts with.
