How VEDAUM knows

Every position of the Sun, the Moon and the grahas comes from the Swiss Ephemeris, the library astronomers and almanac makers use. It runs on VEDAUM's server, never in your browser, and every page reads the same computation, so the calendar, the festival pages, the daily card and your kundali can never disagree with one another.

Lahiri ayanamsa, the convention of the Indian national calendar. The day begins at sunrise, and the tithi at sunrise names the day. A tithi that begins and ends between two sunrises is kept on the day it runs, as the almanacs keep it. Every time is a division of your own day, from your sunrise and sunset, so it is right in Chennai and in Toronto rather than a Delhi almanac reprinted. Both month reckonings, amanta and purnimanta, are shown.

The engine's tests reproduce eleven published dates and events: festival days, a sankranti, a sunrise to within two minutes. VEDAUM's own checks recompute the festival dates and compare them with published almanacs before a change ships; a change that moves one does not go out.

A day-by-day comparison with Drik Panchang across thirty dates is under way and not finished. Until it is, VEDAUM prints no "verified" seal anywhere. The interpretive writing, what a day asks and what a festival means, is awaiting review by scholars, and the pages say so where it applies.

No prediction of events, no fear about a period, no remedy for sale. A reading appears only when two independent sources agree; until then it says not yet revealed.
