The rishi's scroll — read more, if you wish

A rashi is a piece of the sky; a bhava is a piece of your life. Counted from the lagna — the rashi rising at your birth — the twelve houses are twelve fields: the self, wealth, courage, home, children, service, partnership, the hidden, dharma, work, gains, and release.

Four houses are kendras — 1, 4, 7 and 10, the pillars of a chart. Three are trikonas — 1, 5 and 9, the houses of dharma and grace. A graha in a kendra acts strongly; a graha in a trikona acts kindly.

Reading a chart is reading which graha sits in which house, in which rashi. That one sentence is most of the craft — and the rest of this course is how to say it without fear.
