The circle of the sky is 360°. Jyotisha divides it into twelve rashis of 30° each, beginning from Mesha. Every graha, at every moment, stands in one of them.

Each rashi has a lord (the graha that rules it), an element — fire, earth, air or water — and a nature: movable, fixed or dual. Fire, earth, air, water repeat three times round the circle, which is why every fourth sign shares a temper.

Your Moon's rashi (Chandra rashi) is the one Indian tradition names you by — the weekly horoscope here is read from it. Your lagna is a different rashi, and door eight is about it.
